To hear Westporter Brett Adelglass, 21, tell it, they were a tight circle of friends, five buddies who met in seventh grade, forged friendships at Staples High School and remained friends throughout college and beyond.
One of the five was Andrew Accardi, who had battled neuroblastoma, a pediatric cancer, from age 5, but never let the disease hold him back, according to Adelglass.
Andrew, who had completed his junior year at Villanova University, majoring in finance, died Oct. 31, 2013.
To celebrate their friend, who loved golf and was on the Staples golf team, Adleglass, Sam Bender, Matt Labarre and Ethan Tassel—all 2011 Staples graduates—are scheduled to host a miniature golf fundraiser Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Norwalk Cove Marina at 48 Calf Pasture Beach Road.
