State Rep. Jonathan Steinberg (D-Westport) announced today that a combined $13,269 in state funding from the Connecticut Arts Endowment Fund has been awarded to three Westport art programs—the Westport Arts Center, the Westport Country Playhouse, and Music Theatre of CT, Inc.
“Westport has long been a vibrant arts community,” said Steinberg in a statement. “I am pleased the state is investing in our thriving arts scene. I thank Governor Malloy for his continued commitment to Westport.”
The grants include: Westport Music Theatre of CT, Inc.: $826; Westport Arts Center: $4,881, and Westport Country Playhouse: $7,562.
The Connecticut Arts Endowment Fund was established by the State of Connecticut to stimulate the development of private sector funding and help maintain arts institutions. Grant awards are calculated based on a formula that rewards those organizations reporting a substantial increase in the amount of private sector contributions received during the prior year.
