Homes are getting larger, again, in Westport. But not for the sake of just being spacious. it’s what today’s buyers are demanding.
With all the new construction that seems to be taking place, one might be surprised to find that the overwhelming majority of single family housing stock in town has less than 4,000 square feet, because it just doesn’t seem to match percentage-wise what is available for sale.
Almost 77 percent of the approximate 8,200 houses in Westport are less than 4,000 square feet, while this same size category represents just 46 percent of the homes that are currently available.
The fastest growing home size segment is between 5,000 and 7,500 square feet, which represents almost 30 percent of the current active listings.
