UPDATE A 34-year-old man training to be a Metro-North engineer was arrested in Fairfield today, suspected of a sex-type assault involving a female passenger aboard a train, officials said.
Manny Ramos of Brooklyn, N.Y. was hired as a car cleaner in 2011 and has been in the engineer training program since March of 2013, MTA spokesmen said.
A woman on a train from Grand Central to New Haven told the train crew that she was sexually assaulted. Police said she complained she woke up to find that the man next to her was inappropriately touching himself.
The woman had been asleep and awoke to Ramos doing something inappropriate, Fairfield Police Chief Gary McNamara said.
