UPDATE The National Weather Service in New York has issued a Winter Storm Warning for snow for the Westport area, which is in effect from noon Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.
It said snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches can be expected with winds north 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Temperatures will range from 10 to 19 with wind chills as low as 10 below zero late Tuesday night.
Visibilities will be one-quarter mile or less at times.
The snowfall will begin late Tuesday morning and will continue through Tuesday night, tapering off early Wednesday morning. The heaviest snowfall will occur Tuesday afternoon and evening, the Weather Service said.
