Red Coat Road Visitor--Somebody’s Pet?
Anyone missing a white bird? (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Richard Epstein for WestportNow.com
A resident of Westport’s Red Coat Road noticed an unusual visitor to his backyard today and wondered whether the white bird is somebody’s pet.
“This almost pure-white bird flew into my backyard this afternoon,” said Dr. Richard Epstein in an e-mail to WestportNow.
“It certainly looked out of place among the sparrows, cardinals, finches and blue jays. I have bird feeders suspended in the windows in my dental office on Red Coat Road that look out on the gardens, and the bird was certainly hungry!
“It appears to be a pet – there is a metal band on the right leg, and the coloring is white with some blue blush – it looks like some sort of a white parrot or parakeet.”

Belle is Lost--and Found
![]()
UPDATE Belle who had been missing since Dec. 7 in Westport’s Sherwood Drive area has been found, according to owner Susan Brody. In an e-mail message, she said: “Belle is back!!! I thought I saw her early this morning (Dec. 14, one week after she went missing) when I whistled, she looked long and hard at me, and then ran away. As suggested, I put out food, went to NYC and when I came back this evening, the food had been eaten and she was there waiting for me. Her brother and sister are very happy. She looks pretty good and is extremely happy to be home.”
