The website said 14 Westport residents actually started the race and 10 finished the race. One of them starkly said: “I dodged a bullet today.” Added another, an Iraq Marine veteran: “I knew it was a bomb.”
It was not known if any of the Westport residents were among the victims of the explosions. At least three Westporters who ran the race said they were uninjured.
Video from the scene of the explosion shows the race clock at 4h9m, meaning two Westport residents had crossed the finish line within 90 seconds of the blast.
