Restaurant to Put its Stamp on Old Post Office
By James Lomuscio
With an outdoor sign stating the building has been leased, plus a liquor permit signed today, the old brick Post Office at 154 Post Road East is poised to become one of Westport’s largest restaurants, says Planning and Zoning Director Laurence Bradley.
A sign outside Westport’s former main post office proclaims the Post 154 Restaurant will open soon. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
“It’s between 9,000 and 10,000 square feet,” Bradley said about the planned Post 154 Restaurant set to open sometime this year. It will feature a sweeping bar, banquet rooms, and outdoor dining.
Owned by Atlanta, Ga.-based Ansley Westport Partners LLC, which purchased the 1935-built structure in May 2011 for $2.35 million (see WestportNow May 21, 2011), the building is being leased by restaurateur Melissa Sergides Kelly of Franklin Lakes, N.J.
“There’s going to be 250 seats on the inside, and they’re in the process of getting another 48 seats outside for a patio along Bay Street,” said Bradley.
