Promoting Dodge-A-Cop Tournament
![]()
Members of the Westport Police Youth Collaborative (WPYC) will gather again tonight at Staples High School during the Parks and Rec March Madness Tournament to promote their second annual Dodge-A-Cop Tournament on March 21. Dare Officer Ned Batlin (l) and Westport Youth Commission member and Staples senior Guerric Vornle-Von Haagenfels will be there to encourage youth participation in the initiative whose goal is to bring teens and officers together in a non-enforcement capacity. The Dodge-A-Cop tournament was originally scheduled for Dec. 14 but was postponed due to the Newtown tragedy. Proceeds from the event will benefit Homes with Hope. High school kids can register to play as a team of five ($20) or as individuals ($5) to be assigned to a police/youth team during lunch shifts at Staples on March 19, 20 and 21 or tonight at March Madness.
