The following is an edited text of the morning broadcast from Westport’s Emergency Operations Center on WWPT FM 90.3 with Fire Inspector Nate Gibbons:
This morning, CL+P dispatched 44 line crews and 14 tree crews to continue their power restoration work in town. As of 7 a.m., Westport had 13 percent of homes still in the dark. For comparison, Darien is 22 percent out, Greenwich also 22 percent out, New Canaan 34 percent out. Norwalk and Stamford are at 5 percent out.
In assigning crews to Westport circuits this morning, this is the strategy that CL+P told us they were using. They took all circuits and added up how many customers were still out on each circuit. Then they ranked the circuits from worst, most customers out, to best, least customers out.
Crews were assigned to the worst circuits first and that’s where they are starting this morning.
For example, Highpoint Road has 62 homes out and is high on the list. Dawn Drive has nine homes out and is eighth on the list.
