Gov. Dannel P. Malloy today announced that more than $367 million in federal assistance to date has been approved to help Connecticut with disaster expenses in the aftermath of Storm Sandy.
The announcement came as as federal officials, including Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Reps. Rosa DeLauro and Jim Himes, toured the Connecticut shore to assess the damage. Also on their tour was Laurel Blatchford, executive director of the Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force.
The task force was established by President Barack Obama in December to help local communities rebuild and better withstand future storms.
The tour began in New Haven where the federal officials met with representatives from the state’s shoreline communites on the Storm Sandy response. Westport First Selectman Gordon Joseloff and Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director Andy Kingsbury were among those attending.
