Comings & Goings: Julian’s Pizza Opens Another Location

WestportNow.com Image
Julian’s Pizza Bar & Kitchen, 1460 Post Road East, will open in May, according to owner Mike Sayed who also owns Julian’s Pizza, 539 Riverside Ave. He said the eat-in and takeout eatery offers wood-fired oven pizza, burgers made with beef supplied by Fleisher Craft Butchery, vegeburgers, free range chicken appetizers, pasta and a full service bar. Pizza slices are available during daytime hours. “We were the first Westport pizza shop to offer wood-fired oven pizza and we’re expanding that offering in our new location,” he said. The space was previously occupied by Bravo, an Italian cuisine restaurant, also owned by Sayed and, before that, until April 2012, by Munson’s Chocolates for 20 years. Cops: Hard Sell Crossed the Line

Talk about a hard sell, an aggressive cleaning product salesman took his pitch too far, eventually cursing at the restaurant owner and throwing rocks at Junior’s at 265 Riverside Ave., police said today.

Michael Hicks: sprayed cleaning product.  Westport Police photo

Michael Hicks, 23 of Ansonia, reportedly entered Junior’s Thursday at 1 p.m., and in attempting to sell his cleaning product began “moving around the restaurant, ‘spraying’ the cleaning product on multiple surfaces including the grill area,” said Lt. David Farrell.

“The owner asked Hicks to leave multiple times and stated that he’d take a business card,” Farrell said. “Hicks then began swearing at him and his workers. Hicks finally left, then threw rocks at the store.”

After a description of Hicks and his vehicle was sent to patrol units, Hicks was stopped in Norwalk a short time later and taken into custody, Farrell said. Charged with breach of peace, he is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Wednesday, May 3.
