WestportNow Wins Top Award in CT Journalism Competition
WestportNow won top honors tonight in the Connecticut Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists’ annual Excellence in Journalism awards competition for 2009. ![]()

WestportNow won first place in the Web: General Excellence, Independent category, the second win in the category in the three years since the group opened its awards competition to Web-only publications. No entry was submitted last year.
All entries were judged by professional journalists outside of Connecticut.
Publisher Gordon F. Joseloff and Associate Editor Dave Matlow accepted the award at the Society’s annual dinner in North Haven.

Anthony Karge of the Westport News won second place in the community non-daily in-depth series category for his “Revitalizing Downtown Westport” series.
Tim Loh, who writes for the Westport News and Fairfield Citizen, won first prize in the community non-daily investigative series for his “What’s Up With the Post Road?” in the Fairfield Citizen.
Westport Magazine won two first place awards – Daniel Gross won in the general column category for “Global Pop” and Christy Colasurdo won in the feature category for “Time Will Tell.”
