Westport December Unemployment Declines to 5.7%

Westport’s unemployment rate in December was 5.7 percent, down from 6.4 percent from November, the Connecticut Department of Labor said.

It was the lowest unemployment rate since April when it was 5.3 percent. A year ago the rate was 6.1 percent.

The department said the number of Westport unemployed in December was 700, down from 795 in November.

The December labor force in Westport numbered 12,312, down from 12,469,in November.

There were 11,612 employed in December, down from 11,674 employed in November, the department said.
