Tug Party Marks Relaunch of “Little Toot”

In 1939, publication of the children’s classic “Little Toot” by Westporter Hardie Gramatky was marked with a New York Harbor tugboat party. Last week, publication of a “restored classic version” of the book by G. P. Putnam’s was celebrated with another ride provided by Moran Towing Some of the guests seen on the bridge are (l-r)) Judy Freeman, well-known speaker and writer on children’s literature; Paula Quint, retired head of The Children’s Book Council; Leonard Marcus, Parenting contributing editor, children’s book historian, and keynote speaker at the Rabbit Hill Festival of Literature in Westport on Oct. 25; Bob Minzesheimer, USA Today book critic; Margaret Tice, coordinator of Children’s Services for the New York Public Library; Susan Kochan.
