Mary A. Frey, a 1956 Staples High School graduate, died Oct. 12 at New York Weill Cornell Medical Center, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 73.

Born Jan. 25, 1939 in Westport, she lived in Westport until moving to New York City 45 years ago. She was a retired advertising executive and local artist whose colorful, fanciful abstract watercolors garnered a number of prizes and grace many walls.

She is survived by her brother, Everett W. Frey of Westport, many nieces and nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by one brother, Sanford Frey.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 30, at 4:30 p.m. at Epiphany Church, 239 E. 21 St., followed by a reception at the National Arts Club. Contributions can be made in Mary’s name to the Art Students League of New York, 215 W. 57, St., NYC, NY 10019.
