Joseph John Wcislo of Stratford, a former Westport resident, died Dec. 24 at his home. He was 93.

Born in Trumbull to the late Alexander and Agatha (Opiat) Wcislo, he spent most of his life in Fairfield and Westport. He was married to his wife, the late Eleanor (Mills) Wcislo for 47 years.

A World War II Veteran, he served in the U.S/ Army for which he bravely toured much of Europe. He was a former tradesman who retired from the State Park and Forest Commission in the 1980s after many years of service.

After his retirement, he spent many happy years with his wife, Eleanor in Belleview, Fla. He loved the water and spent much time fishing, boating and clamming. He loved traveling, doing puzzles, cooking and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his four children and their spouses, Lawrence & Robin Wcislo of Toano, Va., Ronald and Joanne Wcislo of Ansonia, Mark and Mary Wcislo of Trumbull, and Sharon and Matthew Porter of Midlothian, Va. He is also survived by his brother, Stanley Weislo of Fairfield, and his sisters, Helen Cronan of Wakefield, Mass., and Frances Wilson of Columbia, S.C. He also leaves behind his friend and companion, Bernice Vonick with whom he happily spent the last years of his life; as well as his grandchildren, Raymond, Charles, Nicholas Wcislo, Sarah (Wcislo) Deaver, Katherine Cox and Hayden, Abigail and Ellie Porter; several great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and many friends.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church in Trumbull. Interment will be private.
