John E. DeLara of Weston died Oct. 24 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport. He was 52.
He was born Aug. 31, 1960 in Beacon, N.Y. the son of George and Catherine DeLara. He and his wife Stephanie and son JT have been residents of Weston for 12 years and previously lived in Westport.
He graduated SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics in1982 and worked for many years at IBM and, until his recent illness, for Pearson Education as a vice president of production services.
His family said he was a loving husband and an incredible father who enjoyed coaching youth football. He was a loyal and dedicated friend.
He was an active member and volunteer of the Weston Kiwanis Club and St. Francis of Assisi Church. He was a passionate Giants and Mets fan, and a genuine friend who was devoted to his family.
Survivors in addition to his wife,and parents include one son; JT DeLara, 14 of Weston.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. directly at St. Francis of Assisi Church 35 Norfield Road, Weston for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends in the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East, Westport, on Friday Oct. 26 from 4 to 9 p.m.
