Born in Dusseldorf, Germany Oct. 30 1929, he was the son of the late Adolf and Emily Schmitt Krause.  He served on the Westport RTM from 2003 to 2005 from District 5 and was a former leader and representative in the fifth district, Westport Republican Town Committee.

He taught bible studies in various places and served in various positions at the Church of the Apostles in Fairfield. He was a very dedicated and loving husband and father, not only his own children, but other people’s children, his family said.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian J. Waldmann Krause of Westport, a son, John W. Krause of Brewster, N.Y., a daughter Andrea Schreiber of Frankfurt, Germany. Three grandchildren, Mina E. Krause, John R. Krause and Katrin A. Schreiber also survive.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. at St Paul’s Church, 471 Mansfield Ave., Darien, with interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 21 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Church of the Apostles, 338 Commerce Drive, 2nd Floor, Fairfield, CT 06825, FBO the Helmuth W. Krause Memorial Fund.
