Westport and Weston firefighters joined forces today to battle a house fire at 5 Lyons Plains Road near the Weston town line. The blaze began from what the homeowner—who had left about 90 minutes earlier—said was discarded fireplace ashes placed in a container next to a garage. Flames heavily damaged portions of the exterior and interior second floor above the garage. The house was unoccupied except for a Labrador dog named Cody who was quickly rescued by firefighters.  (CLICK TO ENLARGE) WestportNow.com photo
