The staff turnover at the Westport Country Playhouse continues with word that Anne Keefe, associate artistic director, is out.

The Hartford Courant reported today that Keefe is resigning her position effective Sept. 25.

Her leaving follows last month’s abrupt departure of Alison Harris as executive director. Harris told the newspaper that the timing decision was not hers – she had expected to stay until November.

Keefe, Harris and ex-artistic director Joanne Woodward were part of a team that led a $31 million renovation, expansion and endowment campaign that converted the summer playhouse into a year-round arts center.

Keefe, who turns 60 this month, cited her need to spend more time with her family after seven summers at the theater as the reason for her exit, the Courant said.

Keefe is married to David Wiltse, the Playhouse’s playwright-in-residence whose “A Marriage Minuet” ends its run at the Playhouse Sunday. The couple lives in Weston.

“Consulting director” Peter Culman, former managing director of Baltimore’s Center Stage, is helping to run the Playhouse.
