An accomplished mural and portrait artist, she taught for many years in Westport and Florida.  Her murals and portrait commissions can be seen in many public buildings. Her final mural is installed in the lobby of the Weston Town Hall. (See WestportNow Nov. 1, 2009)

She was featured in the film “Years in the Making: A Journey Into Late Life Creativity” which featured artists still working past the age of 70.

A graduate of Greenwich Academy, she earned a BA from William & Mary and received a MS from Southern Connecticut State University.

Survivors include daughter Barbara Coley of Kentucky; son John Lawless and his wife Susan of Connecticut, daughter Elizabeth O’Hara and husband Neal of Maryland, seven grandchildren, a sister and brother-in-law Elinore and Water Bagdon, two nieces, and one nephew.

A memorial is planned for late spring in Westport.
