Edith Fried, a founding member of the Unitarian Church in Westport, died Jan.10. She was 97.
She was born on Staten Island, N.Y. on Aug. 3, 1915 to English immigrants Hollis Ewart Taylor and Ethel Tugwell Taylor.
She was predeceased by her first husband Roger Morrison in 1951 then by her second husband Gregory Fried, of 34 years in 1999.
She is survived by sons Donald Morrison and wife Sheila of Fairfield, Clive Morrison and Wife Judy of Rowayton, Hilary Fried and wife Laurie of Milford, daughter Kathy Hallett and husband Frank of Jamaica, Vt., and grandchildren Elizabeth Hallett of Brattleboro, Vt.,, Vicki Megibow of Bethel, Ben Fried of Brooklyn N.Y., David Fried of Milford, Hope Morrison of New Haven, Jack Morrison of Fairfield, and great grand daughter Phoebe Grace Megibow. Additionally nephews Steven McCulloch of Greenwood Village Co., and Bruce McCulloch of Temecula Calif.
She shared her later years between Norwalk and Key West, Fla. Both she and her late husband Greg were founding members of the Unitarian Church of Westport as well as The Unitarian Chapter in Key West.
A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Church of Westport on February 2, 2013 at noon.
