Marianne Gilbertie, 89

Marianne Gilbertie, wife of the late Michael A. Gilbertie, died at her Westport home on Jan. 21. She was 89.

She was born April 3, 1923 in Vienna, Austria daughter of the late Berthold and Stella (Gluck) Korting and has been a Westport resident for 61 years.

She and her husband Michael are the founders and former co-owners of the Weston Gardens in Weston. She is also a former member of the Westport Woman’s Club, an avid traveler, and a member of the KinderTransport Association.

Her greatest love was spending as much time as possible with her family, her family said.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Roche and her husband Dennis of Fairfield, Debbie Gilbertie-Giannelli and her husband John of Westport, six grandchildren, Samantha, Kristen, Michael, Julia, John and Patrick. She was also predeceased by one daughter, Susan Gilbertie.

Friends are invited to greet the family on Friday, Jan. 25, in the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East, Westport from 4 to 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Westport Professional Firefighters Association, 515 Post Road East, Westport, CT 06880 or the Westport Volunteer Emergency Medical Service, 50 Jesup Road, Westport, CT 06880.
