Great, so seems the WPD knows where to go then. Criminal Mischief - 2nd Deg - Class A, I assume since town workers will probably spend more than $250 to remove the garb. Oh, criminal tresspass as well. No big deal? What if one of the idiots fell off and sued the town? It is a crime period - and cute or not, so too is probably the Santa hat. Stand on the bridge to make your political statment. oh…and be sure to get a permit.

Please give it a rest, Mr. Spoon, the old boy has been decorated often, every Christmas in fact, for years, and a lot of July 4s. Just do a quick search of this site for Minuteman Statue. Beware, however, if you complain about the Christmas decor you may end up the subject of approbation on FoxNews.

I’m not quite sure how I feel about this one…

In some ways it is a monument to those who defended Westport (really Fairfield then) against the British raid.

At the same time I’ve also been guilty of decorating him. As a former Westport Lifeguard we put a Red Cross flag on his musket and a lifeguard pith helmet on him the night of the Lifeguard Olympics to “scare” the other towns teams coming to compete against us.
