Wrenn B. Richardson, 81
Wrenn Bradford Richardson, a former Westport resident died Nov. 24 at her home in St. Simons Island, Ga. She was 81.
She was born in New York City on April 22, 1931 to the late Russell Bradford and Margaret Middleton Bradford. Her father died when she was a child, at which time the family moved to Southport,, where they lived until she was married to the late John Page Richardson in 1953.
The couple moved down the street to Greens Farms in Westport where they raised their family and where she resided until 1995.
She was a woman brimming with optimism and energy who made many lifelong friends, her family said. She had a great love of the water, always living near the ocean and vacationing on Nantucket and other islands.
She taught preschool and swimming as a young mother and walked her dogs on the beach nearly every day of her life. She always had a number of small dogs by her side, among her favorites Scottish terriers, which she bred for a number of years.
She also enjoyed bicycling and dancing. As time went on and the winters seemed longer, her maternal family’s Southern roots began to take hold.
She and her long time companion, Buddy Mosko, divided their time between Hilton Head Island and Westport. Eventually they opted for a quieter setting, and moved to St. Simons Island in 2001.
She is survived by her daughter, Frances Richardson Markara and her husband Dan of Redding, her son, John Page Richardson, Jr. and his wife Laurie, also of Redding, three grandchildren, Bradford Makara, Julianna Wrenn Richardson and John Richardson III, several nieces and nephews, her dogs Effie and Li’l Man, and her companion of 30 years, Buddy Mosko.
There will be a memorial service at the Edo Miller & Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, Ga. on Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. There will also be a graveside service at the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the foundation, or to the charity of one’s choosing.
