U.N. Secretary General Visits with Westporters
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon was the guest this weekend of longtime friend Judy Rovins of Westport (c) and among those joining them for dinner was Westport First Selectman Gordon F. Joseloff. Ban, who was elected Secretary General in 2006, expressed great interest in Westport and said he was well aware of Westport having many citizens actively involved in world affairs, Joseloff said. The First Selectman invited Ban to attend Westport’s jUNe Day on June 27 as his guest. Last year, Joseloff hosted the then U.S. envoy to the United Nations, Zalmay Khalilzad, at jUNe Day--the first time in its four-decade history that a sitting U.S. envoy to the United Nations has attended the event.
