Metro-North officials have identified the woman killed Saturday night by a New Haven-bound train in Westport as a 39-year-old Westport woman.
Stacey M. Williams of Loren Lane was struck by the train at about 6:25 p.m. in an area between the Hillspoint Road overpass and the Hales Road overpass across from Lilac Lane, a spokeswoman said. (See obituary)
Her car was found nearby with a note inside, according to detectives. The incident is being treated as an apparent suicide, the spokeswoman said.
The train was going about 60 miles per hour, but put on the emergency breaks and sounded its horn when the woman was spotted, she said..
