Fatality Prompts Call for Traffic Improvements

UPDATE Westport First Selectman Gordon Joseloff today urged state Department of Transportation officials to speed up planned traffic improvements near where a pedestrian was killed Saturday in front of a popular restaurant on Post Road East, a state roadway.

“This project adding an additional crosswalk in the area has been in the works for some time now and obviously takes on added urgency with this weekend’s tragic death,” he said.

Joseloff said he toured the area today where Fairfield attorney Bruce Tabackman was killed, met with the general manager of the Shake Shack restaurant, 1849 Post Road East, and also spoke to the senior director of the restaurant’s operations in New York.

In addition, he said he met with Police Chief Dale Call and Public Works Director Steve Edwards about safety improvements to the area.
