The National Weather Service in Upton, N.Y. has issued a High Wind Watch for Westport and area from Tuesday afternoon through late Tuesday night.
It said winds are anticipated to be south 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
An advisory said the highest threat potential is from late afternoon through the evening. This potential will be enhanced in areas of heavy showers or thunderstorms. Downed limbs and power lines with scattered power outages,it said.
A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or stronger may occur.
