Shawn Frazier, 53, was taken into custody after police responded to the station at about 4 p.m. on a report of a suspicious person panhandling for money from commuters getting off a train, said Lt. David Farrell.
“Frazier was acting very suspiciously and continuously turning away from the officer. Frasier was also being very vague in his responses,” he said.
“Due to his unusual behavior, he was instructed to place his hands on the wall behind him so the officer could conduct a pat down of his outer garments for weapons. Frasier did not comply and his left hand immediately went inside his jacket pocket.
“Frazier was then handcuffed for officer safety purposes. Officers then located an electronic weapon, commonly known as a Taser, in Frasier’s left jacket pocket. This is the same pocket it appeared Frasier was placing his hand and attempting to grab an object.”
Frazier was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon and interfering with an officer. He was held on a $20,000 bond and has a court date in Norwalk on March 29, police said.
